Rally Report: Report submitted by Pam & Bill Hunt (Worcestershire Centre)

We attended our first rally with the Worcestershire Centre at Blackpool 22-30 October (although we've been members for long while). We have been on occasional rallies with other centres and enjoyed them, but have always concentrated to getting round as many parts of the country as possible, as and when.  We decided to join our local rally because Blackpool appealed to us after many years since visiting, together with the urge to meet up with local members, especially after reading through the Rally Handbook which sounded inviting.  And, we were not disappointed.  The welcoming committee/marshals lived up their names, together with members coming in on different days, like one big family.
The first evening was gathered round a lovely wood fire, big tea urn on the go and hot dogs and onions - well what more could you want?
The site itself couldn’t have been better positioned as far as public transport. Being in a motor-home, we don't use our vehicle once ‘set-up’ and rely on buses, trains, or in the case of Blackpool - trams. Bus stops were just outside the site on either side, for Fleetwood or Blackpool, and ran every 10 minutes so you could always be sure of not waiting around for too long. The tram system was equally as good and very economical.
We appreciated very much the bus being laid on for a tour of the ‘lights’ and enjoyed it all immensely, plus the company, like we had known everyone for ages.
We would like to say a very big thank you to the help we received from members of the committee when getting ready to leave, as our van would not start, the battery was so flat!!! (and we hadn’t even used it - no tv, no radio etc). We were stunned but no worries, up came the team, jump leads to the ready and in seconds we're up and running.
On testing, the leisure battery was not up to standard being a few years old so we bought a new one.
So we can only say a heartfelt thanks to all concerned and look forward to meeting up again at a future Rally.
